Exciting news from NOTO, Ishikawa Prefecture! The beloved fireflies, known as “Genji-botaru,” have made a triumphant return to the Kurikawashirigawa river after a recent earthquake-triggered landslide. Despite initial concerns, these magical creatures are once again lighting up the summer evenings with their enchanting glow.

Thanks to the efforts of the community in the Kunishige district, the fireflies have found a safe and welcoming habitat in the upstream area of the river. With limited use of agricultural chemicals in the surrounding rice paddies, the environment is ideal for these delicate insects to thrive.

One of the most spectacular sights to behold is the 1-kilometer “path of light” created by the glowing genjibotaru fireflies along the river. Residents, many of whom are farmers, have worked tirelessly to ensure the river water remains clear so that the fireflies’ food source, snails, can flourish.

Let's continue to support and celebrate the return of these beautiful fireflies in our community. Together, we can help preserve their habitat and ensure they continue to brighten our summer nights for years to come. Join us in protecting these amazing creatures and their home in the Kurikawashirigawa river! 🌟🌿 #FireflyMagic #CommunityPride
